Nissan has officially released the 2027 Altima with a starting price of $29,065, which includes a $1,275 destination charge. This makes the new base price $210 higher than last year, and buyers can no longer add all-wheel drive to the entry-level SV trim.
Trims And Specs
Shoppers who want all-wheel drive must now choose the higher-end Altima SR, which starts at $30,465 and requires a $1,500 option fee. The car keeps the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 188 horsepower, though power drops slightly to 182 horsepower on all-wheel-drive models. Fuel economy reaches up to 26 miles per gallon in the city and 36 on the highway for front-wheel-drive versions.
Market Position
Sales for the sixth-generation sedan have dropped by 26 percent this year, with 56,424 units sold through the first nine months. Competitors like the Toyota Camry continue to outsell it by a wide margin, moving 260,684 vehicles in the same period.
Context
Sedans face fierce competition from SUVs in the global car market, leading many manufacturers to rethink their vehicle lineups. The Altima remains a familiar choice for buyers who still prefer traditional four-door cars over sport utility vehicles.
