Mahindra Auto has launched the new XUV3XO ZNG with a factory-fitted CNG kit, priced from Rs 9.99 lakh up to Rs 12.27 lakh for the top-spec model. This launch makes the sub-4 meter SUV available in four different fuel choices, including petrol, diesel, electric, and now CNG.

Trim Prices And Performance

Buyers can pick from four distinct trim levels. The base MX Edge ZNG costs Rs 9.99 lakh, the REVX Edge (O) ZNG is priced at Rs 10.79 lakh, the AX5 ZNG costs Rs 11.19 lakh, and the top-spec REVX A ZNG is priced at Rs 12.27 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. Under the hood, the vehicle uses a 1.2-litre turbo petrol MPFI engine built as a bi-fuel unit. It delivers a peak power of 114.5 PS and 200 Nm of torque, utilizing a 10-bar injection pressure to prevent any drop in pressure compared to the petrol-only model. The car hits zero to sixty km/h in 4.9 seconds and zero to one hundred km/h in 11.8 seconds, while offering a rated fuel efficiency of 24.7 km/kg.

Storage And Practicality

The vehicle uses a dual-cylinder CNG storage setup instead of a single tank to preserve boot space. The spare wheel is retained and placed underneath the body. Mahindra has also re-tuned the semi-independent rear suspension to handle the extra weight of the CNG system. Safety equipment includes six airbags, seatbelt reminders for every seat, all-four disc brakes, and a reinforced chassis aimed at maintaining a 5-star crash rating. The cabin features a dedicated CNG-to-petrol switch on the dashboard and an updated instrument cluster that shows both fuel levels.

Context

Factory-fitted CNG cars have grown very popular in India because they offer much lower running costs than petrol or diesel models while keeping manufacturer warranties intact. Dual-cylinder setups solve the common problem of losing all luggage space in the boot, making these vehicles much more practical for daily family use. This move puts Mahindra in direct competition with rivals like Tata Motors in the clean-fuel compact SUV segment.
