New test shots reveal that the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is getting a major hardware and technology refresh. The spied test motorcycle features a rectangular TFT instrument console and WP-branded USD front forks.

What's Changing

The updated NS160 retains its familiar bodywork, including alloy wheels, front and rear disc brakes, an underbelly exhaust, and the muscular fuel tank with angular extensions. Spy shots of the Ebony Black test bike show no major changes to decals or overall styling, while the bike keeps its 160.3cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. In its current form, this motor pushes out 17 horsepower and 14.6 Nm of torque. The new rectangular TFT screen, similar to units rolled out across other recent Pulsar models, is expected to bring smartphone connectivity features like map mirroring and document storage. According to recent industry trends from Bajaj, this TFT display will likely be restricted to the top-tier variant of the NS160, while lower versions may stick to an updated negative LCD screen.

Market Impact

Bajaj currently prices the Pulsar NS160 at Rs 1.26 lakh for the base variant and Rs 1.35 lakh for the top trim with USD forks, though ex-showroom Delhi figures start at around Rs 1.26,301. Industry watchers expect the added hardware upgrades and new technology console to bring a price increase when the bike officially launches, although the company has not yet confirmed an exact release date or final pricing. Other models like the NS200 and N250 have recently received similar feature drops, including new gearboxes, quickshifters, and traction control, leaving open the question of whether advanced electronic rider aids will also trickle down to the NS160.

Context

Bajaj Auto has been systematically rolling out equipment and hardware updates across its entire Pulsar motorcycle lineup since August. These mid-lifecycle refreshes typically aim to keep older models competitive against newer rivals by adding modern tech features like smartphone-linked instrument clusters and premium suspension components.
