German luxury carmaker Audi is set to launch its third-generation Q3 SUV in India on October 16, 2026. This compact luxury vehicle serves as the brand's entry-level SUV for the country and marks the start of a new product offensive.
Design And Exterior
The new Q3 features a bold design overhaul, including a split headlamp layout with Digital Matrix LED units containing 25,600 individually controlled pixels in the bumper. Slim LED DRLs placed above them double as turn indicators with four light signatures. The wide honeycomb grille houses Audi's new 2D logo and an integrated radar for the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems suite. Side highlights feature 18-inch alloy wheels with self-levelling centre caps and silver roof rails. The rear showcases connected split LED tail-lamps, an illuminated tailgate logo, and a silver skid plate. While the wheelbase remains at 2,681mm, the vehicle overall appears larger than its predecessor.
Cabin And Features
Inside, the cabin offers a 488-litre boot that expands via 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats, alongside a space-saver spare tire. The modern dashboard sports curved digital displays, a 12.8-inch touch-infotainment screen, an 11.9-inch digital driver's display, and a hexagonal steering wheel with a steering column-mounted gear selector. Cabin materials include leather upholstery paired with fabric and wood trim. Comfort features comprise powered and heated front seats with memory, a 12-speaker Sonos audio system, multi-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a powered tailgate. Safety equipment includes nine airbags, an auto-park function, and ADAS capabilities like adaptive cruise control and auto-emergency braking, though it omits lane-keep assist, a 360-degree camera, and ventilated seats.
Engine And Pricing
Powering the SUV is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol direct-injection engine that generates 204 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. This motor pairs with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox featuring paddle shifters and Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The car achieves zero to 100 kph in 7.1 seconds and includes multiple drive modes such as an off-road setting, though diesel, hybrid, and electric options are unavailable at launch. The vehicle is expected to cost more than the outgoing model, which ranges from Rs 43.67 lakh to Rs 53 lakh ex-showroom, putting it up against competitors like the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
Context
Luxury compact SUVs have become crucial growth drivers for premium automotive brands looking to attract younger, upwardly mobile buyers in expanding urban markets across India. The introduction of third-generation models typically allows manufacturers to integrate advanced driver safety systems and digital connectivity features that modern consumers increasingly expect in this price segment.
