Mahindra has expanded its compact SUV line-up with the XUV 3XO ZNG CNG variant alongside updated variant trims and feature options. Originally launched in April 2024 as a facelift of the XUV300, the vehicle now comes across 12 distinct trims and offers three different engine choices.
Powertrain Options
The model is available with a 1.2-litre MPFi turbo-petrol engine pushing out 111hp and 200Nm, a 1.2-litre TGDi direct-injection turbo-petrol yielding 131hp and 230Nm, and a 1.5-litre diesel unit delivering 117hp and 300Nm. The new ZNG CNG version pairs the 1.2-litre MPFi motor with a factory-fitted CNG kit maintaining the same 111hp output. It delivers a claimed mileage of 24.7km/kg and provides 270 litres of boot space via a twin-cylinder setup beneath the floor, compared to 364 litres on non-CNG models.
Variant Selection
Automotive experts recommend the AX5 variant as the most sensible pick, priced from Rs 10.00 lakh to Rs 12.20 lakh, while diesel buyers seeking premium touches can stretch for the AX7 trim. The line-up also introduces fresh RevX trims and the MX Edge, spanning across prices starting at Rs 7.79 lakh for the entry MX1 up to Rs 14.08 lakh for the top AX7L.
Context
The compact SUV segment in India remains fiercely competitive, prompting manufacturers to continuously refresh variant line-ups and introduce alternative fuel options like CNG to attract cost-conscious buyers. Factory-fitted CNG setups have gained popularity because they maintain vehicle warranties while offering significantly lower daily running costs compared to standard petrol or diesel fuels.
