UPDATE - follow-up to Eight children among 21 killed after war-damaged Gaza building collapses, rescuers say: At least 21 people died, including eight children, when a damaged building collapsed overnight in the Gaza Strip. The six-storey structure was located in the Tal al-Hawa area of Gaza City and had been leaning to one side after an Israeli strike hit it more than a year ago. Witnesses told the BBC that displaced families lived inside the building because they were desperate for shelter. Around 10 families had reportedly stayed in the block. UN and Egyptian teams joined the search for survivors. The rescue work was slow because workers lacked proper equipment. Initially, rescuers from the Hamas-run civil defence tried to find people trapped under the rubble using their bare hands.
