Reality television personality Qazi Touqeer has shared details about a major career turning point from 2005, when producer Ekta Kapoor offered him a television role. Speaking with Aamrapali Dubey, Qazi recalled that Kapoor personally came to narrate a rockstar character to him while he mostly stared at her rings. He declined the project because he had already signed a film contract and communicated his refusal through a woman named Anupama.
Media Backlash
Following the incident, newspaper reports accused Qazi of ditching Kapoor for a bigger project, which damaged his image and led to him being labeled arrogant. Qazi noted that the lack of social media at the time made it impossible for him to quickly issue a public clarification to defend himself.
Career Journey
Qazi first gained widespread fame after winning the reality singing show Fame Gurukul in 2005 alongside Ruprekha Banerjee, earning a cash prize, music contract, and a car. His later career included an appearance in the song 'Afghan Jalebi' from the movie Phantom, a stint on the reality show Sarkaar Ki Duniya, and years of live performances before joining the Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss 20 in 2026.
Context
Reality television contestants often face intense public scrutiny and media coverage when entering the entertainment industry. Past career decisions and archival incidents frequently resurface when personalities re-enter the spotlight on newer reality shows like Bigg Boss.
