Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said about 80% of the bills RVM Constructions submitted to the state government have been paid, rejecting the builder’s claim of systematic delays and tender irregularities. He told a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad that the company, owned by Nama Ramesh and Nama Vivek, had done work worth ₹77.08 crore in Telangana since 2017. After the Congress government took office in December 2023, RVM secured only two projects – a degree‑college construction worth ₹8.50 crore and a municipal building at Andole‑Jogipet. The firm claimed to have billed the government ₹25.10 crore; the MP said ₹20.15 crore has been cleared and ₹4.95 crore remains pending, which matches the 80% figure he quoted. He questioned why the complaint was raised now, suggesting it was an attempt to tarnish the Congress administration. Reddy also highlighted the political links of the owners, noting that Nama Ramesh’s family name is associated with a former BRS MP. He then shifted to broader grievances against the previous BRS rule, accusing it of mismanaging the Kaleshwaram irrigation project and favoring former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s personal interests. Reddy alleged that the Konda Pochamma Sagar scheme primarily benefits KCR’s farmhouse at Erravelli, pointing to a 58‑acre waterbody, Panduranga Cheruvu, that supplies a three‑acre well on the property. He claimed ₹42.54 crore of public funds were spent on a fully subsidised drip‑irrigation system at the farmhouse while farmers across Telangana struggle for water.
Context
The dispute reflects ongoing tension between the Congress and BRS parties in Telangana over infrastructure spending and alleged favoritism toward political leaders.
