Celebrity stylist Law Roach says he is fully prepared to step into acting if a filmmaker offers him a role. Roach shared this plan on Thursday night at the InStyle Imagemaker Awards, stating that he wants to explore new paths and is not afraid of doing poorly. His past styling work includes prominent names like Zendaya, Kim Kardashian, and Celine Dion.
Past Screen Appearances
While Roach has not yet taken on a full acting role, he has made short cameo appearances as himself in projects such as the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada and the Kate Hudson Netflix comedy series Running Point. He has also judged several popular reality television shows, including Legendary, America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, and RuPaul's Drag Race. When asked if working closely with top actors gives him an advantage, he joked that his experience with legendary singers does not mean he plans to launch a singing career.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas Project
Also attending the event was actor and past Roach client Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who spoke about her time filming the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios comedy Judgment Day. Directed by Nicholas Stoller, the movie stars Zac Efron as an ex-convict who holds a TV judge and his crew hostage. The large cast also features Will Ferrell, Regina Hall, Fortune Feimster, Michael Peña, Billy Eichner, Jimmy Tatro, Heidi Gardner, Bobby Cannavale, and Bill Camp. Chopra Jonas admitted she broke character and laughed only a couple of times while working alongside such experienced comedy stars.
Context
Award shows and red carpet events frequently serve as places where entertainment figures announce new career shifts or discuss upcoming projects with the press. Styling high-profile celebrities often opens doors into other areas of the fashion and entertainment industries, from television judging roles to film appearances. Comedies with large ensemble casts rely heavily on improvisation and professional actors who can keep straight faces during funny scenes.
