Trial run of Kambala on Thursday at a newly built slush track in Sathgalli, Mysuru, proceeded without issues. The test featured two pairs of buffaloes to check the track before the main event. Puttur MLA Ashok Rai, who chairs the Kambala Organising Committee, said the track met expectations and announced that 150 pairs of buffaloes have been confirmed for the two‑day races scheduled for October 18 and 19. He added that races will run both day and night, with events on Sunday and Monday, and that there is no entry fee for spectators. Rai encouraged nearby residents to attend the night races with friends and family. The selected buffaloes will leave Mahalingeshwara Temple on Saturday morning, pause for three hours in Kushalnagar for food and rest, and reach Mysuru around 8 p.m. The district administration has arranged facilities for the owners and their crews. Although another 100 pairs expressed interest, officials capped participation at 150 pairs as per government limits. Winners will receive a gold prize of 16 grams, while runners‑up get 8 grams, and all participants will earn a certificate. Film actor‑director Rishab Shetty has been invited, but his attendance is unconfirmed. Minister for Mysuru district Yathindra Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event at 9 a.m. on Sunday, and races are expected to continue until 8 p.m. on Monday.
