The Union government led by Narendra Modi has failed to contribute meaningfully to the education sector over the past 12 years. KPCC president B.K. Hariprasad made this claim during a press conference in Kalaburagi on Sunday. He stated that more than one lakh schools have closed down during this period. He also said the Modi government has failed to set up more than three universities in its 12 years in power. According to him, the contribution of the current central administration to education is zero. In contrast, he claimed that the Congress laid a strong foundation for education across the country after Independence.

Protest Support

Mr. Hariprasad denied allegations that the Congress party is funding protests organised by the Cockroach Janta Party. However, he defended what he described as logistical support given to the protesting youth. He explained that providing lawyers to help agitating activists in court cases and giving them the national flag does not count as funding protests. He stated that the party will continue this logistical support because the Congress stands with those fighting to protect the Constitution.

Context

Political leaders often address local media during election periods to rally support for party candidates. Press conferences serve as platforms to criticize opponents and defend party actions on current public issues. These statements were made in connection with the upcoming elections to the North-East Teachers Constituency of the Legislative Council.
