Hyundai is set to launch the Bayon midsize SUV on October 26, 2026, with pre-bookings now open.
Positioning and Price
Positioned below the Creta, the Bayon fills the gap between the Venue and the Creta in India. It is expected to cost between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 14 lakh.
Engine and Fuel Options
The SUV launches with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 115hp and 144Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox. A factory-fitted CNG variant with an underbody-mounted tank is expected to follow, making it Hyundai's first CNG model above four metres.
Design and Features
Based on the 'Art of Steel' design language, the Bayon features a crossover look with split headlamps, an H-motif LED DRL setup, and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The cabin includes a black-and-white theme, dual 12.3-inch displays, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.
Context
The Bayon enters a growing alternative-fuel market where cost-sensitive buyers increasingly choose CNG. Its rivals include the Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Victoris, Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
