What Happened
Hindustan Zinc's share price surged about 4% on Wednesday, reaching ₹559.85, the day’s opening high, after the Vedanta Group unit announced its Q2 FY27 results on Monday. The company posted a consolidated net profit of ₹6,412 crore, a 142% jump from ₹2,649 crore a year earlier. Revenue rose 76.5% YoY to ₹15,093 crore, driven by higher metal prices, more production, better by‑product realisation and a stronger US dollar. Expenses grew 31.5% YoY to ₹6,895 crore.
Analyst Views
Lemonn’s Gaurav Garg said the chart shows a head‑and‑shoulders pattern, suggesting weakening bullish momentum. He noted resistance at ₹540‑₹550 and support at ₹518‑₹522, adding that a sustained move above ₹560 could aid recovery while a break below ₹518 may trigger further selling. Garg advised current investors to hold with risk controls and fresh investors to wait for price confirmation near ₹580. Kantilal Chhaganlal Securities’ Mahesh M Ojha, on the other hand, sees a bullish weekly trend and points to upside targets at ₹557, ₹574 and ₹590+, recommending a stop‑loss around ₹490.
Context
The stock’s recent rise follows a month‑long fall of 8.69% and an 11.70% decline YTD, but it has delivered 11.68% total return over the past year and strong three‑year gains, reflecting the metal producer’s earnings growth amid volatile zinc and silver prices.
