Bajaj Auto has launched the new Pulsar N250SS at a price of Rs 1.59 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. According to Rushlane, the exact ex-showroom price is Rs 1,59,406. This range-topping variant expands the N250 lineup with major updates to the powertrain, transmission, and technology over the standard model.
Performance and Engine
The motorcycle uses an updated 249cc air- and oil-cooled engine with a new four-valve head. It produces 25 horsepower and 22 Nm of torque, which marks a small increase over the base N250 output of 24.5 horsepower and 21.5 Nm. Bajaj has replaced the older five-speed gearbox with a six-speed unit. A quickshifter for clutchless upshifts comes as standard equipment. The bike also features an electronic throttle body that introduces new riding modes.
Technology and Features
The previous LCD unit is replaced by a new 5-inch TFT console that supports Google Maps mirroring. Additional features include adjustable levers, a USB Type-C port, a hazard switch, and a panic brake alert system.
Pricing and Rivals
The new N250SS costs Rs 14,000 more than the standard N250. Even with this price hike, it undercuts most direct competitors such as the Suzuki Gixxer 250 priced at Rs 1.85 lakh and the Hero Xtreme 250R Carbon priced at Rs 1.98 lakh. According to Sarang Kanade, Chief Business Officer for the Two-wheeler Business Unit at Bajaj Auto, the mix of an upgraded engine and electronic throttle body ride modes strengthens the bike and focuses on making technology a meaningful part of the ride.
Context
This launch comes as the Pulsar brand marks 25 years in the Indian market. Bajaj has been updating multiple models across its lineup with modern tech features and revised powertrains.
