Japanese manufacturer Honda has announced a series of upgrades for the CBR600RR supersport motorcycle, borrowing key parts from its flagship CBR1000RR-R Fireblade model. The changes focus on aerodynamics, the braking system, and the digital display, while keeping the core mechanical platform the same.
Updates and Brakes
The front winglets have moved forward to blend into the front fairing. Honda states this new design keeps the same downforce and drag levels as before. The front brakes now use Nissin four-piston calipers taken from the Fireblade, paired with 310mm dual front discs, while the rear retains a single-piston caliper and a 220mm disc. A new ABS module from the Fireblade brings three distinct modes: Standard, Track, and Race.
Electronics and Engine
The TFT instrument screen grows from 4.2 inches to a larger 5-inch display. Existing rider aids carry over, including ride-by-wire, a six-axis IMU, bi-directional quickshifter, cornering ABS, nine traction control levels, five ride modes with two user-customizable options, and wheelie control. Riders can also tune power delivery, engine braking, and the quickshifter. Honda provides three race kits and two accessory packs, split into racing and comfort options, for further personalization.
Price and Availability
The bike keeps its 599cc liquid-cooled in-line four engine, which produces 121hp at 14,250rpm and 63Nm at 11,500rpm. It retains a 194kg kerb weight, an 820mm seat height, an aluminium twin-spar frame, fully adjustable 41mm Showa USD forks with 120mm travel, a Pro-link monoshock with 128mm travel, and a 125mm ground clearance. Available in Matte Ballistic Black and Ignition Red with the HRC Tricolour scheme, both variants cost GBP 10,999, which equals roughly Rs 13.91 lakh. The bikes reach showrooms in Europe and the UK in January 2027.
Context
Motorcycle manufacturers frequently update middleweight sports bikes by sharing parts from their larger flagship superbikes to improve track performance without redesigning an entire machine from scratch. The CBR600RR line has a long history in racing, serving as the standard engine supplier for the Moto2 championship until 2018 before returning to western markets in recent years.
