A Madurai-based firm from the Thiagarajar Group and Germany's Euro Textiles are joining forces to invest 100 crore rupees to build a new fabric production plant in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu.
Plant Details
The joint venture will feature 48 advanced air jet weaving machines. The factory will make three million metres of cotton jacquard fabric every year. The Thiagarajar Group will hold the majority stake in this new unit.
Market and Exports
The plant will initially focus on exports, sending grey fabric directly to Germany. K. Hari Thiagarajan, the Managing Director of Thiagarajar Mills, stated that India currently exports relatively less grey fabric to European nations. The factory may later expand to sell products in the domestic market as well. Thiagarajar Mill will supply the yarn needed for production, and the plant is expected to start operations in eight to ten months.
Context
Trade agreements between India and international partners often aim to boost manufacturing and make it easier for local producers to sell goods abroad. Industrial investments in smaller towns help create local jobs and expand the regional economy outside major metro cities.
