UPDATE - follow-up to U.S. television networks halt Trump coverage in revolt over White House ban: Major U.S. television networks stopped sharing White House video coverage on Monday, September 21, 2026, to protest a ban on three news organizations. President Donald Trump had ordered CNN, MS NOW, and Politico to be barred from the White House on Friday, September 18. CNN, MS NOW, and Politico also took legal action by going to court over the ban. The top five U.S. broadcasters decided to halt shared pool coverage on Monday in a rare show of support for CNN. CNN was scheduled to handle the daily White House TV pool duties on that Monday. ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox, and NBC released a joint statement saying the public needs accurate and independent government news, and no administration should block a news group because it dislikes the reporting. This broadcast blackout meant there was no television coverage of Trump's trip on Monday to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he planned to meet multiple foreign leaders.
