Launch and Features
Bookings are open now for Rs 5,000 on the company website and through authorized dealers. In its first phase, the scooter will be available in just five cities: Delhi, Agra, Cuttack, Surat and Kollam, via select Honda RedWing dealerships. Charging the battery from zero to 80 percent takes two hours and forty minutes, while a full charge takes four hours. The QC3 includes a 5-inch TFT display with Honda RoadSync, Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call or SMS alerts. It also features a smart key for keyless start, all-LED lighting with LED DRLs, and 32 litres of underseat storage. For rider comfort and safety, the scooter uses a telescopic front fork, twin rear shock absorbers, a front disc brake, and a rear drum brake. Buyers can choose from four colors: Matt Photon Gray Metallic, Pearl Precious White, Pearl Shallow Blue and Pearl Siren Blue.
Market Position
Even though Honda is India's largest scooter maker, its electric vehicle sales trail far behind competitors like Bajaj and TVS. In August sales data, Honda sold 1,902 units of the QC1 and 140 units of the Activa e, capturing about one percent of the overall electric scooter market. Meanwhile, the Bajaj Chetak led the segment with 52,248 units, followed closely by the TVS iQube with 42,882 units, alongside strong numbers from Hero Vida and Ather Rizta. Apart from the QC3, Honda recently introduced several other motorcycles including the Rebel 300, ADV160, CB500, and an updated CB350 range. The company is also developing an all-new electric scooter made specifically for the Indian market, though its price and launch date are not yet announced.
