Box Office Records
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has broken box office records to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film in history. Starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, the movie crossed the ₹300-crore mark worldwide in under four weeks. It has surpassed Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra to claim the top spot.
Earnings Breakdown
As of Monday, September 21, the film earned ₹159 crore net and ₹186 crore gross in India. In Kerala alone, it crossed the ₹150-crore mark, beating Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros, which held the previous state record at ₹130 crore. Overseas, the film minted $14.4 million, making it the second-highest-grossing Malayalam film abroad behind Mohanlal's L2: Empuraan, which earned $16 million last year. Its total global haul stands at ₹323 crore in 33 days.
Growth and Budget
The film reached its milestones at a rapid pace, hitting ₹100 crore in five days, ₹200 crore in 12 days, ₹250 crore in 16 days, and ₹300 crore in 24 days. Made on a budget of just ₹25 crore, the film grew through strong word of mouth. It dropped just 5% in its second week, while most major films drop significantly during that period. This allowed it to beat films with budgets four to five times larger. The success follows Nivin Pauly's earlier hit Sarvam Maya, adding consistency to his career.
