Police investigating a plot to attack actor Tiger Shroff have found that three shooters visited buildings where actors Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh reside during a month-long stay in Mumbai. Investigators are examining whether the gang assigned these actors as specific targets or if the visits stemmed merely from curiosity, while security has been heightened outside several actors' residences who have faced threats in the past.
Arrests and Suspects
Mumbai Crime Branch DCP Raj Tilak Roushan announced that eight people have been arrested so far, with two others, Jatin and Sameer, detained in Haryana pending transit remand approval, which will bring the total arrests to ten. Three accused, including two shooters, were caught in Kota, four were apprehended by Delhi Police, and 18-year-old Ankit alias Rajesh Khatak was seized in Haryana.
Weapon Delivery Network
The four suspects caught in Delhi are Kunal Sanjay, Sumit Suraha, Radha Verma and Babita Rao. Kunal, Sumit and Jatin allegedly retrieved a firearm from Amritsar using a dead drop method where weapons are left at a spot for another group to pick up. Kunal brought the gun to Delhi, handing it to Radha and Babita, who stayed in the city and passed the firearm to the shooters anonymously before returning to Delhi.
Role of Accomplices
Ankit alias Rajesh Khatak accompanied the shooters in Mumbai, helped them check locations, and aided the transfer of roughly Rs 2 lakh from Anil Pandit to the shooters before returning to Haryana. Sameer allegedly linked shooter Rehan Ansari with Anil Pandit and brought Rehan into the firing plot. The Kota-arrested accused appeared before a Mumbai court, while the Delhi suspects face a local court on Thursday.
Context
High-profile celebrity threat cases in Mumbai often involve large interstate criminal networks operating across states like Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. Police use methods like dead drops and multi-city operations to track down conspirators and weapon suppliers before attacks can take place.
