A local Bharatiya Janata Party leader surrendered to the Kozhikode police on Wednesday over a major burglary at the Qatar Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre office in Qatar, where cash worth about eight crore rupees was stolen. The accused man is Parappil Balakrishnan, who lives in Koyilandy within the Kozhikode district and previously fought in local body elections as a BJP candidate.

Details of the Crime

Police stated that the robbery happened on September 18, 2025, at the KMCC office located in Al Thumama, Qatar. A gang reportedly broke into the building, tied up the room boy, and used gas cutters to open the strongroom. The formal complaint notes that thieves looted thirty-one lakh Qatari Riyals during the heist. Following a complaint made by KMCC leader P.K. Investigators identified the other accused individuals as Bombay Shaji, Rashi, Salih also known as Bava, Hassan also known as Mammali, and Nisar.
