Accusations Made
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday reiterated its accusation that Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was trying to create anarchy in India and weaken constitutional institutions in collusion with foreign organisations. At a press conference, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia cited a Fox News Digital report titled 'Global Chaos Inc' and alleged that attempts to bring about regime change in France and other countries through unrest were linked to protests in India. He stated that the report identified 101 organisations across many countries, described the network as part of a red-green ecosystem, and named two groups: Progressive International and Indian Alliance Paris.
Demands and Criticisms
Mr. Bhatia sought explanations from former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Gandhi regarding their meeting with a Progressive International delegation on April 28, 2025, in Delhi. He alleged that Mr. Gandhi was presenting a model of anarchy, disorder, and treachery, and added that a report published in a reputed newspaper brought to light treacherous links to foreign agencies. The BJP leader also criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut over a recent social media post concerning unrest in Albania.
Context
Political parties in India frequently trade charges over foreign influences and domestic protests during tense political cycles. Major national leaders often respond to international media reports and foreign delegations to question each other's diplomatic and security stances. These verbal exchanges typically form a central part of daily political messaging between the ruling party and the opposition.
