The Federation of Western India Cine Employees has stepped in to back singer Daler Mehndi following an on-stage clash in Uttarakhand.

The Incident

The dispute started on Sunday at the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair held in New Tehri. Uttarakhand Cabinet minister Subodh Uniyal stopped Mehndi in the middle of his musical set and claimed the performer had been drinking alcohol.

Union Response

The cine body quickly wrote formal letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The group asked authorities to make sure performers receive fair and kind treatment. The letter explained that the union knows about Mehndi's recent surgery and health troubles. It also stated that, as far as the organization knows, the singer never touches alcohol. The federation argued that any worries about a star's health should be handled privately behind closed doors instead of turning into a public scolding. Actor Anupam Kher also spoke out in support of Mehndi, questioning the need for such public shaming.

Context

Incidents involving public figures at live events often spark debates over the proper conduct of public officials and event organizers. Entertainment industry bodies frequently step in to advocate for performers when disputes arise during public appearances.
