Heavy Rains Threaten Telangana As Weather Department Issues Red Alert For 17 Districts

Seventeen districts in Telangana are under a red alert as a deep depression forms over the Bay of Bengal, bringing warnings of extremely heavy rainfall for Wednesday and Thursday. The weather department reports that a trough is also active across Karnataka and the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, intensifying the downpour. North Telangana faces the highest risk, with certain areas expected to receive over twenty point four centimeters of rain, while other parts brace for rainfall between eleven point five and twenty point four centimeters. Moderate to heavy showers will also hit other districts, with wet weather expected to continue on the twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth of the month.

Recent Rain And Official Action

Heavy showers already struck parts of the state on Tuesday, heavily affecting Hyderabad, Rangareddy, and Medchal Malkajgiri districts. Khairatabad recorded three point two centimeters of rain, Kukatpally saw two point eight, Musheerabad received two point five, and Abdullapurmet logged two point three centimeters. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered government machinery to remain fully alert to handle the situation. Commissioners of the three municipal corporations around Hyderabad, along with the police and disaster response agency HYDRA, must work together to monitor conditions closely and clear waterlogging quickly from main roads, junctions, and residential colonies.
