British carmaker McLaren has revealed a brand-new logo and a custom typeface named McLaren Sans for its upcoming vehicles. The design draws inspiration from the service station in Auckland, New Zealand, run by the parents of late founder Bruce McLaren.
Design Changes
The new wordmark features a wide, all-capital style with a lowercase letter 'c' placed on a small horizontal line to match the height of the other letters. The company's familiar 'Speedmark' shape will stay on cars as a small identifier. Chief creative officer David Woodhouse stated that while the rebrand honours Bruce McLaren's history, it aims to focus on the company's future rather than acting as a retro look. The carmaker is also shifting its corporate colours to darker, midnight-themed shades, while its classic Papaya Orange will now connect more closely with its racing teams.
First Vehicles and Future Plans
The 2026 McL 6GT concept car, shown last month at Monterey Car Week in California, is the first vehicle to wear the new branding. Future models will also feature the McLaren name spelt out across the rear. This rebrand follows the company's recent announcement to open a second UK factory, build its own engines, and launch new front-engined models with two rows of seats, including an SUV.
