UPDATE - follow-up to 8 Improvements the Thar OG Gets Over Its Predecessor: Mahindra has released another update for the Thar, giving the 2026 model an 'OG' suffix to set it apart from the larger Thar Roxx. The new version runs on the 'M_Glyde 4G' platform for better structural strength. It borrows a rear Penta-link suspension with a Watts Link from the Thar Roxx and Scorpio-N, along with Frequency Dependent Damping or 'DAVINCI dampers' first seen on the XUV 7XO. Off-road capability gets a boost with an upgraded electronic locking differential, plus new terrain modes for snow, sand, and mud, alongside Zip and Zoom drive modes. For the first time, the vehicle swaps its old hydraulic steering for electric power steering to make turns easier. The 2.2-litre diesel engine now puts out 152 hp and 330 Nm, which is 18 hp and 30 Nm more than before. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivers 162 hp and 330 Nm, showing a jump of 10 hp and 30 Nm. Safety updates include a Head-Pelvis-Thorax-Shoulder airbag system on top-spec variants with six airbags, plus all-wheel disc brakes and front parking sensors on higher trims. Inside, the seats now use leatherette material, and new additions include a wireless phone charger, push-button start, headlamp cornering functions, and rear armrests with cupholders. On the outside, the vehicle features 19-inch wheels, dual-tone bumpers, and all-new LED headlamps, fog lamps, and taillamps.
