A new health approach known as soft wellness is gaining popularity. It focuses on feeling good and supporting the mind and body instead of trying to lose weight, look better, or chase strict fitness targets. This method avoids rigid rules and punishment, encouraging habits like eating nutritious food, getting enough sleep, moving regularly, resting, and connecting with others without making health a daily struggle.

Classic wellness culture often relies on strict diets, calorie counting, hard workouts, and feeling guilty over missed exercise or certain foods. Anshul Singh, team lead in the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Department at Artemis Hospital in Gurugram, explains that soft wellness offers a flexible way to live healthy. It lets people pick good foods, enjoy what they like, and change physical activity to fit their energy and schedule. Singh notes that rest is not laziness, food enjoyment is not failure, and exercise can be walking, dancing, swimming, or stretching. Dr Upasana Palo, a consultant gynecologic oncologist and robotic surgeon at Narayana RN Tagore Hospital in Mukundapur, Kolkata, points out that intuitive eating is part of this approach. It helps people listen to hunger and fullness cues while still keeping a balanced diet. Aarti Nath, senior dietitian at Paras Health in Udaipur, adds that the trend supports diverse diets and flexible habits that last a lifetime.
