The Central Industrial Security Force plans to recruit about 450 sportspersons against open posts. New rules will allow sports hiring at the Constable, Head Constable, and Assistant Sub-Inspector levels. CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan announced these updates during a meeting with athletes who played in national and international games this year.
Infrastructure and Awards
Training centers are getting new sports facilities, including an athletics track at the National Industrial Security Academy in Hyderabad and the Subsidiary Training Centre in Greater Noida. Another sports center is coming up at the CISF Women Battalion in Nuh, Haryana. The Sports Authority of India is also preparing a project report for a regional center at the Rajaditya Cholan Regional Training Centre in Thakkolam. Five force members represented India at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in 2026, where Head Constable Ritu won a gold medal in the women's kabaddi team. The force handed out cash awards worth about 97 lakh rupees to medal-winning athletes and coaches for the 2025-26 period.
Performance and Support
Medal counts at the All India Police Sports Clusters rose from 120 medals in the 2025-26 period to 169 medals in 2026-27. Trophies won by CISF teams also doubled from 10 to 20 over the same period. The force gave special pay bumps to 18 athletes in 2026 for their wins. It also spent about 2 crore rupees for off-season special diets and processed about 4 crore rupees for in-season diets. Athletes also received money for common sports kits and personal gear.
Context
Many police and paramilitary forces in India maintain dedicated sports teams to encourage fitness and help national athletes build stable careers. These organizations regularly upgrade training grounds and offer cash prizes or special promotions to motivate personnel to win medals at major global sports events.
