Actor Manav Kaul is thrilled after his Hindi sports drama series, Real Kashmir Football Club, received a nomination at the International Emmy Awards. Kaul, who plays a main role in the eight-episode series, received the news while in Paris just moments before speaking about it, stating that the milestone has still not fully registered for him. When he first learned the news through a congratulatory message, he immediately reached out to director Mahesh Mathai, who initially suspected it was a joke until Kaul confirmed it was posted on the official Emmy page. Only two Indian projects made the list for this year's International Emmy Awards: the stand-up special Fool Volume by Vir Das and Kaul's series. Kaul noted that competing against global shows makes this selection a major victory for India. He admitted the achievement feels personal because he always believed the project deserved a wider audience and stronger viewership. The actor mentioned that he previously went out of his way to promote the show extensively so more people would watch it. Kaul shared that he knew the narrative was special from the moment he first read the script, especially since he was already familiar with a prior BBC documentary covering the same subject. He praised the intense hard work put in by the entire crew, including director Mahesh Mathai. The show is co-directed by Mahesh Mathai and Rajesh Mapuskar, and also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub alongside Kaul. With the global recognition now secured, Kaul hopes the nomination will finally bring the series the massive viewership he always felt it deserved.
