Sangita Srivastava has taken charge as the Vice Chancellor of Allahabad University for a second consecutive term. This makes her the first person in the history of the institution to be reappointed to this office. Officials state that she will serve another five-term of five years. The President of India approved her new term, acting as the Visitor of the university. Her service will last for five years or until she turns 70 years old, whichever happens earlier. Srivastava previously took charge as the university leader on November 30, 2020, when she also became the first woman to hold this position. Her first five-year term was set to end on November 29 last year, but the ministry extended her tenure until a new appointment process finished. The official letter for her second term arrived in the university mailbox on September 23, which matched the date of the campus foundation day. University Public Relations Officer Jaya Kapoor noted that the formal order was issued on behalf of President Droupadi Murmu. Faculty members, staff, and students have all welcomed her return. During her first tenure, Allahabad University earned an A+ grade from NAAC and adopted a four-year undergraduate program under the National Education Policy 2020. The campus also hired about 400 teachers, promoted more than 280 faculty members, and filled 636 non-teaching posts. Other additions during her past term included a Roll of Honour board at the Vijayanagaram campus showing 256 famous alumni, alongside a new day-care centre in the Science Faculty. Following her reappointment, Srivastava stated that she remains dedicated to the institution and society, aiming to turn the university into a top hub for all areas of learning.
