Mercedes-Benz India has launched the new Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad PRO at a starting ex-showroom price of 3.80 crore rupees. This variant is available in limited numbers, though the exact allocation for India has not been made public. The model pairs the standard G 63 V8 engine with new equipment designed to improve performance on rough terrain.

Key Features

Highlights of the new variant include AMG Active Ride Control suspension, AMG Traction PRO, and AMG Active Balance Control. The setup also features a Professional roof luggage rack and special 20-inch alloy wheels. AMG Active Ride Control provides active roll stabilisation to adapt the suspension for different driving programmes. Mercedes-Benz states that this system helps the vehicle maintain ground contact and traction while improving comfort over bumps. AMG Active Balance Control lets drivers adjust roll stiffness across three levels in off-road programmes, ranging from low to high. Meanwhile, AMG Traction PRO works in the Rock and Sand programmes by controlling braking torque individually at each wheel. This system includes seven selectable locking settings to help the vehicle regain grip in deep sand and other difficult conditions. The roof luggage rack features continuous aluminium panels and a removable rear ladder for access. The vehicle rides on unique 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte black with a diamond-turned rim flange, paired with 275/50 R20 tyres. The exterior keeps the classic G-Class silhouette alongside AMG styling elements like flared wheel arches and a distinct front bumper.

Engine and Interior

Power comes from a handcrafted 3,982 cc twin-turbo V8 engine paired with 48V mild-hybrid technology. The motor generates 585 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, sent through an AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. The vehicle accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 km/h. Inside, the cabin features Nappa leather upholstery and customisable ambient lighting. The MBUX NTG7 infotainment system includes augmented-reality navigation, and the dashboard provides an off-road cockpit for easier access to driving functions. A technology package adds more driver assistance features, though specific ADAS functions were not detailed. Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, stated that the Offroad PRO builds on the G-Class legacy through advanced off-road technology and distinctive design. He noted that this limited-volume model supports the company's focus on the top-end luxury segment.
