Stephanie March is returning to the television show "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" to play her famous role once again.

What Happened

March will appear in the ninth episode of Season 28 of the long-running show. She plays the character of Alexandra Cabot, an assistant district attorney. March has already played this role in more than 100 episodes over the years. She was a main cast member from Season 2 in the year 2000 until Season 5 in 2003. During her time on the show back then, her character had to fake her own death and join a witness protection program.

Return Appearances

After leaving the main cast, March came back as a guest star several times. She appeared in Seasons 6, 10, 11, and 13. Her most recent return before this announcement was in Season 19 back in 2018. She also played the same character in a short-lived spinoff legal drama named "Conviction" in 2006.

Other Work

Aside from her work on this police drama, March has acted in movies. Her notable film credits include the 2009 comedy movie "The Invention of Lying" by Ricky Gervais. She also appeared in the 2017 indie film "Who We Are Now" directed by Matthew Newton. Another film credit is the 2019 mockumentary "The Social Ones" by Laura Kosann. Her talent agency is Paradigm, and her management group is Navigation Media Group.

Context

Long-running television dramas often bring back popular former cast members to excite fans and boost viewership during key episodes. Guest appearances by legacy characters help connect newer seasons with the rich history of a show that has been on the air for many years.
