Vanga locks Diwali 2027 slot for action thriller Spirit after tip from Ranbir Kapoor

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has set his next action thriller Spirit, starring Prabhas, for release on the Diwali 2027 weekend. The announcement sparked online chatter, with many assuming a clash with actor Ranbir Kapoor, who had earlier confirmed his epic Ramayana for the same holiday slot. However, sources close to both camps say the two filmmakers share a strong friendship. A source told Bollywood Hungama that Ranbir Kapoor learned of a possible delay to Ramayana 2 and immediately called his friend Vanga to share the news. Vanga thanked Kapoor for the tip and, upon hearing the delay, moved quickly to lock the Diwali 2027 date for Spirit. Music mogul Bhushan Kumar supported the decision, and both Vanga and Kumar announced the new schedule together. The revised release date for Ramayana 2 is expected to be revealed soon, likely during the post‑credit scene of the first Ramayana film on Diwali. ## Context Diwali is a prime window for big‑budget Indian movies, so studios often compete for the dates. Friendships among producers and directors can lead to informal coordination, preventing direct clashes and helping both projects find suitable slots.
