A staff nurse told a Mumbai court that an intruder demanded one crore rupees during a failed robbery attempt at the home of actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Court Trial

The trial began on Friday with the deposition of the 59-year-old staff nurse who worked as the youngest son Jeh's caregiver for over five years. She identified 31-year-old Mohammed Shariful in court as the intruder who entered the Bandra residence on the night of January 15 to 16 in 2025. The court rejected two attempts by the accused, who is alleged to be a Bangladeshi national, to plead guilty.

The Attack

The witness recounted waking up around 2 am to a bathroom light and later spotting a shadow moving toward Jeh's bed. When she tried to pick up the child, the man attacked her with a hexa blade and injured two of her fingers while demanding money. The noise woke the child's nanny, and the intruder warned them to stay quiet and remain in the room. The nanny managed to walk out and raise an alarm, which brought Saif and Kareena rushing out.

Struggle And Escape

When Saif asked the intruder who he was and what he wanted, the man attacked him as well. Another staffer who entered the room also suffered injuries during the chaos. Saif managed to overpower the intruder before everyone ran into another room and locked the door. Other staffers arrived while the suspect escaped through the main door, leaving Saif with injuries to his back, hand, and neck that required hospital treatment. Public prosecutor Iqbal Solkar will continue examining the witness at the next hearing.

Context

High-profile residential break-ins often trigger heightened security concerns and intense media scrutiny regarding celebrity safety in major Indian urban centers. Legal trials in criminal cases involve a detailed examination of witnesses and evidence before courts reach a final verdict.
