Tata Motors has launched the new Aeris compact sedan in India with an introductory starting price of Rs 5.29 lakh, ex-showroom. The vehicle serves as a facelifted version of the outgoing Tigor compact sedan, adopting design elements from the smaller Tiago while keeping the same mechanical setup. Bookings are currently open, and customer deliveries are scheduled to begin on October 11. The car comes in five distinct trims: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative, and Accomplished. Under the hood, the Aeris features a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 86hp and 113Nm of torque. A CNG version is also available, delivering 76hp and 97Nm of torque. Both powertrains offer a choice between a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed automated manual transmission, though prices for the AMT variants will be announced at a later date. Styling updates include sleeker LED headlights with LED DRLs, a gloss black grille, pixel-shaped LED fog lamps, and 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels on higher variants, while lower trims and CNG models sit on 14-inch wheels. Inside, the cabin features a lighter theme with a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a semi-digital driver's display, a wireless phone charger, and ventilated front seats. Safety features are extensive, offering six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera with a blind-spot monitor, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and hill hold control. In the market, the Tata Aeris competes directly against models like the Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Aura.
