Representative image · PexelsShares of Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company Limited rose nearly 1.63 percent on Friday, bouncing back from a big drop in the previous session. The recovery follows new draft rules proposed by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India for the insurance sector. During a call on Thursday, the company told investors that these proposed changes are good for the medium term, even though they might slow down near-term growth a bit. Brokerage firm Motilal Oswal agrees with this view and keeps a positive stance on the stock, expecting a 31 percent jump in its price.
Market Details And Stock Performance
On Friday, the stock closed 1.63 percent higher at 77.38 rupees per share on the BSE. The company's total market value stood at 14,312.55 crore rupees. During the trading day, the stock touched a high of 78 rupees and a low of 75.70 rupees. Over the past three months, the share price has dropped 8.75 percent, but it has gone up about 8.51 percent over six months and around 3.15 percent in 2026 so far. The stock hit its 52-week high of 91.20 rupees on July 31, 2026, and its 52-week low of 67.50 rupees on March 24, 2026.
Brokerage Outlook And Draft Impact
Motilal Oswal has kept a buy rating on the stock with a target price of 100 rupees per share for a one-year period. The draft paper from IRDAI mentions lower commissions, which the company notes will keep prices flat for a longer time, much like the effect of the GST exemption. Niva Bupa is already following the rule of a 20 percent cap in the first year and a 10 percent cap on renewals. However, the firm expects its sales volumes to fall in credit-linked business. Company management views this as a pipeline issue that needs to be managed, and they have not fully measured the final impact yet. Motilal Oswal's report also points out that checking product designs and sales networks again could create pressure on overall growth.
