What Happened

Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced a new technology strategy to halve the time it takes to build new vehicles by the year 2030. The company also plans to make India a major center for manufacturing and sending cars abroad, aiming to reach an annual production capacity of four million units from fiscal year 2030 onward.

Strategy And Production

Under its Technology Strategy 2026 for 10 Years Ahead, Suzuki wants to improve development efficiency by thirty percent and manufacturing efficiency by half. The carmaker will shift from a step-by-step development process to a concurrent method where planning, design, production, quality and purchasing happen together from the start. The firm will also use more digital engineering and shared parts across different models.

Powertrains And India Focus

Suzuki will stick to a multi-pathway approach instead of moving only to battery electric vehicles. This plan mixes electric cars, hybrids and carbon-neutral-fuel vehicles based on local energy needs. In India, this includes ongoing investments in CNG and CBG tech, with CNG models making up about forty percent of company sales in the country. Suzuki currently has three biogas plants running in India as part of this effort. The firm is also building a new direct-injection turbocharged engine for growth markets like India and working on ways to make vehicles lighter by up to 120 kg by 2030. CEO Toshihiro Suzuki confirmed the company will keep growing its production power in India.
