Assistant Executive Engineer Parvez Dharwad was found near Mumbai’s Bandra railway station on Oct 22, ending a 40‑day disappearance. He had left for Bengaluru on Sept 13 for an official meeting and failed to return, prompting his father Jaffersab Dharwad to file a missing‑person report at Betageri Extension police station. Gadag police launched a special investigation, deploying teams across Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh under Deputy Superintendent Murtuza Qadri. The search traced Parvez to Mumbai, where officers brought him back to Gadur for questioning. He was in good health and was handed over to his relatives after the inquiry. A note allegedly left by Parvez cited a shortage of government funds, delayed payments for completed works and pressure from contractors over pending dues, fueling speculation about the cause of his disappearance. The Gadag Superintendent of Police praised the investigation team for their sustained effort and said further probes will determine the exact circumstances. Police said they will examine the note and interview contractors to verify the claims.
Context
The case highlights challenges faced by public‑sector engineers in remote projects, where funding delays and contractor pressure can create stressful work environments. It also shows the reach of state police cooperation across multiple states in locating missing persons.
