Singer Kutle Khan's team has blamed Shilpa Rao and Himesh Reshammiya for the disruption at the 10th anniversary edition of the Bollywood Music Project in Mumbai on October 24.
What Happened
Sharad Sharma, Kutle Khan's manager, stated that Shilpa interrupted Kutle Khan's set to thank the audience after her own performance had already ended. According to the manager, the festival organisers had reduced Kutle Khan's slot to 10 minutes instead of the standard 15 to 20 minutes. When Kutle Khan started his performance, Shilpa returned to the stage and took the mic, prompting him to pause his set. Festival organiser Deepak Chaudhary then asked Kutle Khan to sing Dil Pe Zakham Khate Hain and urged him to hurry.
Reaction
The incident created heavy backlash online after Shilpa's microphone was cut off while she spoke on stage. Sharad alleged that Shilpa's public relations team created a false story to frame Kutle Khan for interrupting her, though he added that he holds no ill feelings toward her. Shilpa previously shared on social media that she felt heartbroken over her truncated set, while the event organisers apologised and blamed schedule delays and curfew rules.
Context
Music festivals often face strict local time limits and sound curfews that force organisers to cut artist sets short when earlier acts run over time. Sound checks and technical delays can quickly throw off a packed festival lineup involving multiple major performers.
