Actor Asin Thottumkal and her husband, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma, do not keep a television at home and do not allow their seven-year-old daughter, Arin Rayn Sharma, to use mobile phones or screens. Rahul Sharma shared details about their family life and Asin's role during an interview with MyGov India. He stated that Asin takes care of things at home and credits her as the main support behind his success, calling her a blind believer who lifts him up. Speaking about their daughter, Rahul mentioned that seven-year-old Arin can already speak and understand about 12 languages, including Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Chinese. He added that their home is filled with books rather than electronic devices, noting they have books meant for Class 8 and Class 9 even though Arin is currently studying in Class 2. Asin enjoyed a successful acting career in South Indian cinema and Bollywood before retiring after her marriage to Rahul Sharma in 2016. Her notable films include the 2008 Hindi version of Ghajini, which was the first movie in India to enter the Rs 100 crore club, alongside other hits like Ready, Housefull 2, and Bol Bachchan.

Context

Many parents and public figures choose to limit screen time for young children to encourage reading and language learning through physical books instead. Asin stepped away from her acting career following her marriage after starring in numerous major films across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema.
