Kakinada Joint Collector Apoorva Bharat ordered marine fishing to stop along the Kakinada coast as heavy rain and strong winds are forecast from Oct 27. Fisherfolk have been told to return to their fish landing centres. He also instructed all officials to postpone leave and stay on duty until further notice. Revenue, Civil Supplies and Fisheries departments were asked to secure enough fuel at filling stations and deliver gas cylinders within two days. Control rooms were opened at the Collectorate and at every mandal headquarters, and relief camps were earmarked. In neighbouring East Godavari, Collector Ch. Kirthi directed staff to map low‑lying zones, set up relief centres and warn traditional fisherfolk who fish the Godavari river. Both districts are monitoring the approaching system but expect the standing paddy crop to escape damage because harvesting is planned for late November. The coordinated steps aim to protect lives, ensure essential supplies and keep agricultural output safe. ## Context Cyclone alerts in Andhra Pradesh typically trigger suspension of coastal fishing and pre‑positioning of fuel and shelters. The measures here follow standard state disaster‑management protocols to minimise disruption during the monsoon season.
