The Notice

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has issued a stop-work notice for a Juhu bungalow owned by actors Ajay Devgn and Kajol. The action follows a complaint from the Kapol Co-operative Housing Society over plans to open a salon and spa on the residential property.

The Property Details

The bungalow is a 7,802-square-foot property located on Plot S-10 at N S Road No. 11 in Mumbai's JVPD Scheme. The property has been leased to Florian Hurel Salons Pvt Ltd under a five-year agreement starting August 10, with rent beginning at Rs 16 lakh per month for the first year alongside an annual increase.

Society Objections

Residents objected to running a business in a residential area, citing worries about heavy visitor traffic, parking problems, safety, noise, and the narrow internal roads. Officials from the BMC's K-West ward asked for documents about the business activity. The civic body stated that the proper permission for commercial use was not shown, which led to the stop-work order. Local corporator Sudha Singh said the Building and Factory Department of the K-West ward is handling the case, noting that no permission was given for commercial use at first glance.

The Devgn Response

The Devgn family has asked for four weeks to reply to the notice. Meanwhile, a source from the Devgn side stated that all necessary permissions and approvals from the concerned authorities have already been obtained for using the premises.
