The Allegations

Television host Chris Hansen faced major cheating allegations in June 2011 after a tabloid report stated he was seeing local reporter Kristyn Caddell. The National Enquirer published claims that hidden cameras recorded the married To Catch a Predator host and the 30-year-old West Palm Beach reporter together in Florida. According to that report, the pair had dinner at a hotel in Manalapan before going to an apartment in Palm Beach.

The Denials And Counter Accounts

Hansen was 51 years old at the time of the initial reports. A source close to him denied the affair through another media outlet, stating that the two were only long-time friends and that no romantic dinner or overnight stay occurred. However, Caddell later shared a very different version of events. In a 2013 open letter published by the same tabloid, she described their connection as an affair and stated that Hansen led her to believe his marriage was ending. Caddell wrote that he told her a divorce was certain and that his wedding ring was only for show. She also stated that he flew her across the country, booked hotels with her, and introduced her to work colleagues, adding that the relationship ruined her professional career.

Marriage And Later Events

Hansen married Mary Joan Hansen in 1989, and the couple shared two sons. Their marriage lasted for several years following the 2011 scandal before Mary Joan filed for divorce in June 2018, citing an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage. Court records show the divorce was finalized in 2020. Hansen later married Gabrielle Gagnon in November 2021. His past life and work are currently receiving renewed public attention due to the September 2026 release of an A24 film titled Primetime, where actor Robert Pattinson portrays a fictionalized version of him.
