The Hyundai Verna petrol CVT has delivered an overall average fuel efficiency of 14.15kpl in recent real-world tests. As part of its 2026 update, the car received minor design tweaks along with some feature additions and deletions, while keeping its existing engines. It runs on a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 115hp and 143.8Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-step continuously variable transmission, known by Hyundai as the Intelligent Variable Transmission, and comes with Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes. During the testing process, the vehicle was driven in the Eco mode in and around Navi Mumbai across fixed city and highway loops. In city conditions, the sedan gave 10.4kpl, while on the highway it achieved 17.9kpl. The highway figure comes close to the ARAI claimed efficiency of 19.6kpl, aided by an engine speed of roughly 1,900rpm at 100kph when driven with a light foot. In city traffic, the auto stop-start feature helped save fuel without being overly aggressive. Equipped with a 45-litre fuel tank, the car offers a real-world driving range of 630km on a full tank. Testing protocols involved a single person in the car, the air conditioner set to 22 degrees Celsius in full-auto mode, and periodic driver swaps to balance out driving styles.
