Mahindra Thar OG hits market with new features, price starts at Rs 10.32 lakh

The Mahindra Thar OG launched in September 2026 as the second update to the three-door SUV in just over a year, bringing design and interior changes along with new mechanical features.
Pros
The vehicle keeps its body-on-frame build and improves off-road performance through new Snow, Sand and Mud terrain modes. These modes work alongside electronic stability program, throttle control, and steering input, while the electronic locking differential is now easier to use. For off-roading fans, there is no direct rival under Rs 65 lakh. The SUV also moves to electric power steering instead of the old hydraulic system, making it light enough to turn with one finger below 20 kph while gaining weight at higher speeds. Rear stability improves thanks to a Watts linkage that keeps the axle centred and a widened track for highway driving. Meanwhile, a DaVinci damping setup cuts out harsh thuds from low-speed bumps, and the ZXT trim adds frequency-dependent dampers to handle larger 19-inch wheels.
Cons
Cabin space stays limited, particularly for rear passengers in the strict two-seater back row, making it hard for older adults to get inside. Boot space is small and barely fits bags for an airport trip unless you fold the rear seats down. Inside, the vehicle uses hard plastics instead of the soft-touch materials found in the Thar Roxx, which makes the interior feel cheap compared to competing models in the same price range. The Mahindra Thar OG carries an ex-showroom price between Rs 10.32 lakh and Rs 17.75 lakh.
