Actor Swara Bhasker has drawn fresh criticism on social media after sharing her emotional reaction to the Supreme Court's 2019 Ayodhya verdict during a podcast appearance. During the interview, Swara stated that the judgment left her deeply troubled and feeling ashamed as a Hindu. She admitted to sending apology messages to several Muslim individuals in her phone contacts list, including prominent actors Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan, alongside her now-husband Fahad Ahmad. According to the actor, while some recipients replied that such messages were unnecessary, her remarks quickly sparked backlash online from users who questioned her stance on the court ruling.
Marriage And Background
Beyond the Ayodhya verdict discussion, the podcast also featured details about her relationship with Fahad Ahmad. The couple revealed that former student leader Umar Khalid played a key role in introducing them, having shared Swara's contact number with Fahad ahead of an anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protest in Mumbai. The two later registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act in February 2023 and welcomed their daughter in September of that same year.
Past Controversy
In addition to the podcast interview, Swara recently revisited another past controversy involving her open letter about filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 movie Padmaavat. Her previous criticism of the film's depiction of jauhar resurfaced at a recent Delhi event, leading to fresh online debate regarding her views on historical portrayals of women.
