Parineeti Chopra makes OTT debut in seven-part thriller series Shaque

Actor Parineeti Chopra stars in a new seven-part web show titled Shaque: Trust No One, which centres on a mother whose baby gets snatched away right after birth in the hill town of Shimla. In the series, Anvita, played by Chopra, and her husband Alok, played by Tahir Raj Bhasin, fail to find their stolen child despite desperate searches. Eight years go by, and while Anvita has another child, she remains haunted by her loss and frequently mistakes other children for her missing daughter. Every year on the missing child's birthday, Anvita gets a photo of a young girl with her face obscured, keeping her hopes alive. A local police officer named Khurana, played by Anuup Soni, helps her look into the case. The plot thickens when characters named Sakshi, played by Jennifer Winget, and Gaurav, played by Dhruv Chaudhry, arrive in Shimla along with their young daughter, whom Anvita immediately suspects is her own lost child. The show is written and directed by Rensil D'Silva. Aside from the main cast, the series features Harleen Sethi as the best friend and Soni Razdan as the mother-in-law. Critics note that the thriller suffers from too much repetitive explanation and relies heavily on forced plot conveniences, though performances by actors like Jennifer Winget stand out.
