Korean culture met traditional Telangana arts on Sunday at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad during the 'K Harmony Festa' for Korea Culture Day 2026. Stalls selling Korean products opened in the afternoon, drawing curious crowds before hundreds of people gathered inside the auditorium from 5 p.m.

Speeches

The programme began around 5.30 p.m. with an address by Lee Seong-ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, who welcomed the audience and spoke about strengthening cultural ties. He compared India's Diwali festival to Korea's Chuseok harvest festival, noting that both celebrations share values like family, togetherness, gratitude and hope. Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka also addressed the gathering. He praised Korea's global influence through music, cinema and television, and pointed out historical ties between India and Korea. Mr. Vikramarka also spoke about potential cooperation between Telangana and Korean businesses in electronics, electric vehicles, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy and emerging technologies.

Performances

The evening featured a mix of energetic acts from both regions. The Daekyung Taekwondo Demonstration showcased martial arts with tile-breaking stunts that drew loud cheers from the audience. Local traditions followed with the vigorous Perini Shiva Tandavam dance, known for its warrior roots, and the forceful drumbeats of the Telangana Dappulu performance. The stage then hosted Korean traditional performances including Eolssigu, a violin duo, an Atti Classic Vocal Crossover Performance, and a closing instrumental set by a Korean band.
