Andhra Pradesh Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana said a viral audio clip urging Telugu Desam Party workers to support only BJP candidates and to forfeit deposits in six municipal seats is fake. Alliance leaders in Nellore called the clip false propaganda by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to create rifts. Narayana addressed the media on Monday, October 26, 2026, alongside MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, BJP leader Vamsidhar Reddy and JSP leader Vemulapati Ajaya Kumar. He pledged to make Nellore the country's top‑most developed city and said the current Alliance government is continuing development started under the previous TDP government. He criticised the YSRCP tenure, claiming it left five percent of underground drainage works unfinished. Narayana promised to finish the underground drainage and make the city mosquito‑free by June 12, 2027, noting that funds are being released immediately on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s request despite an empty state treasury. MP Vemireddy praised Narayana for securing funds and highlighted newly built roads, parks and a closed drainage system. Kotamreddy said TDP candidates won unanimously in eight of the 36 divisions of the Nellore Rural constituency, while many YSRCP candidates withdrew, leaving only dummy candidates. He accused YSRCP leaders of conspiratorial politics and warned against spreading false propaganda. JSP leader Vemulapati added that Nellore’s development depends on the alliance’s victory and condemned the alleged YSRCP attempt to gain advantage through fake propaganda. ## Context The dispute shows how rival parties in Andhra Pradesh use alleged fake media to influence local elections, while development promises such as completing drainage work aim to sway voter sentiment.
