The share allotment for the Jio Platforms initial public offering is expected to be finalized today, October 26, ahead of the stock's market debut on Wednesday, October 28. Retail investors who receive an allotment of one lot containing 12 shares at the upper price band of ₹1,119 per share could see potential listing gains of over 22%. Based on a grey market premium of ₹250 per share, an investment of ₹13,428 for one lot is projected to be worth ₹16,428, bringing an estimated profit of ₹3,000. For an investor allotted five lots of 60 shares, the total holding value would rise from ₹67,140 to ₹82,140, yielding an estimated gain of ₹15,000.

Investor Response

The country's biggest-ever public issue closed on Friday, October 23, after drawing massive demand from all investor categories. Total demand across the public issue and anchor investor placement crossed ₹7.4 lakh crore, while overall bids reached 22.19 times the shares on offer. Qualified institutional buyers led the demand with a 70.55 times subscription, while non-institutional investors subscribed 14 times and retail investors booked their portion 2.76 times. The last time an IPO drew comparable interest was Reliance Power's 2008 issue, which was subscribed 21.36 times.

Context

Grey market premiums reflect unofficial market expectations for an upcoming stock listing but do not guarantee actual trading prices once shares begin public trading on the NSE and BSE. Share allotment status can be checked online through the official website of the registrar, Kfin Technologies Limited, or via the stock exchanges.
